2022 Substance Use/Mental Health Events

JUNE

  • June 7th 9-2 VIRTUAL Youth Mental Health First Aid: teaches how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.

  • June 7th 5pm VIRTUAL  REVIVE Opioid Overdose and Naloxone Training: learn how to recognize an opioid overdose, respond to an opioid emergency, and administer life-saving naloxone. All attendees will receive two free doses of Narcan by mail.

  • June 11th 8:30-12:30 VIRTUAL Communication Skills that Facilitate Change: 4-hour workshop with CMC: Foundation for Change psychologist Dr. Josh King who will teach several evidence-based communication and behavior strategies that can help you and your loved one who struggles with substance use. These strategies will help you open a dialogue and improve your relationship with your loved one; create an environment that makes them more likely to choose to change; and encourage them to seek treatment for their substance use.
    *NOTE: There is a $40 fee for this workshop

This is a 4-hour workshop on the Invitation to Change Approach, a holistic helping framework that draws on evidence-based practices from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) to offer a full set of helping tools that are grounded in compassion, connection, and hope.
